Meghalaya State Water Information & Management System (MEG-WIMS)
The Meghalaya State Water Information & Management System (MEG-WIMS) is envisioned as a comprehensive digital data repository and a platform to support the effective planning, monitoring, and management of water resources at the state level. This platform will enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of water resource governance, improve resource allocation strategies, and strengthen the formulation of data-backed policies for sustainable water management
MEG-WIMS is aimed to be a central hub for all water-related information in the state by consolidating datasets from multiple sources into a single, comprehensive repository. The platform will facilitate seamless coordination among stakeholders, improve inter-departmental data sharing, and ensure that critical information is easily accessible when needed.
MEG-WIMS is aimed to seamlessly integrate with the Water Resources Information System (MEG-WRIS) to serve as the backbone for validated, reliable, and real-time water resources data dissemination. It will provide the verified datasets and live updates that power the WRIS ensuring that stakeholders have access to accurate and up-to-date information.
Furthermore, MEG-WIMS is aimed to support data-driven decision-making, enabling informed planning at both the state and basin/regional levels. It will also contribute to national water resource management initiatives by feeding standardized data into central systems such as IndiaWIMS and IndiaWRIS.
